Does anyone else's tap water smell bad???
About a month or so ago, I was doing my morning routine in the bathroom in my apartment, and a foul stench appeared and slowly got worse through the next couple of days. I could find the source of the smell for a while, I cleaned my bathroom top to bottom and it was still smelling bad, until I finally discovered it was my tap water.
It was so bad for a while that I had to get tap water filters and ii avoided the tap all together for a bit. I realized they were remodeling the unit next door to me and I thought maybe they disturbed the pipes or something and that is what was causing the smell.
After about a week the smell got less potent but it has not gone away entirely. And as of recently I have noticed the smell outside of my apartment is other taps around the city as well. I noticed in at my gym in Lakeview, I noticed at my job in Lincoln Park, I noticed it at the clubs and bars in Logan Square, and I noticed it at a couple restaurants in river north.
Has anyone else noticed a particularly poor and almost musty/moldy smell of their tap water too? What is going on?? Or am I just going insane?
