Tips for the next push to that 655+ range?
Bit of background - Working a 50hr/wk finance job with 2 YoE. Cold scored 435 FOCUS in June of 2025. Studying about 8-12 hrs/wk. Goal is a 655+ FOCUS to check the box for T15 programs when I apply in 2-3 years from now (so basically unlimited study time).
I used TTP for Quant fundamentals, finished the courses there
Used official GMAT questions, including the 330 extra questions pack. Ran through it twice, not using for now so can come back to the material fresh
Currently on GMAT club for problem sets in Quant
Official practice exam score intervals of 435 > 515 > 545 > 575 > 605
I tested the other week on a practice exam (official material) and scored a 605 Q76/V85/D79. A couple notes include:
Verbal feels largely consistent, I feel that I have a good understanding of the tricks the GMAT uses, and I score fairly strong on hard questions. Maybe the issue is that I've fully used official verbal material and 3rd party resources for this section are mediocre. I have not kept studying this section as I feel very good here, but let me know if it's a mistake to take time away from the section as to not stay as sharp.
Quant I simply cannot level up on. I feel pretty stuck in this section. I've been struggling to take that next step I see others do by transforming the problems with the different methods of finding solutions. Maybe the only positive here is that unlike when I started studying, I can identify the different problem types but I don't always have the right order of steps to properly solve (conflating different approaches, committing to a method of answering but finding out it isn't a great approach to get the answer, etc) If anyone has advice as to how to level up quant so I can cross that 80 mark, I think this would be the final nail to help me make that 655+ jump
DI feels solid at 79, tbh it feels like a dice roll based on what kind of questions I end up getting. I've gotten >80 on 2 other practice exams for DI, and honestly I feel like I just get better at this section as I learn more at work. I think on a great test day things will fall into place here, and I'm better at finding some of the tricks the GMAT throws into this section, similar to verbal.
Sorry if I'm kinda using this as a personal diary, but any advice on hammering in quant specifically would be very helpful. I feel like things for DI and Verbal are really starting to come together, but my Quant section has not had the same exponential, meaningful, and consistent progress as the other 2 sections have come to be. If anyone else struggled with this, please help out!
