Dog Woes
So I've been married for 9 years to my wife. Up until a year ago it was just us and a cat. Life was perfect, our house was quiet and relaxing. But about 3 years ago my wife wanted to get a dog.
I don't particularly like dogs. They are loud, messy, destructive, and kinda gross.
I fought getting this dog for years, until my wife started to talk about how lonely she was.
I work 60-70 hours a week because I live in the capitalistic hellscape of the USA, so I broke and agreed to get the dog. A female samoyed.
The dog is adorable I will admit, but it does what dogs do, it pees in my house, destroys my stuff, and is just a lot of work.
It's been a year and I still find myself reminiscing about the time before the dog, about how quiet and relaxing my house was. And when the dog isn't in my home, I am genuinely relaxed. There are even days I don't even want to leave work because I know when I get home, I'll be on dog duty.
Today was a particularly bad day. I woke up very early for work, and about 3 hours into my day my wife calls me saying that the dog trainer, we bring our dog to once a week, found flees on my dog.
We give our dog flee and tick medication and do our best to keep the dog healthy, and I've spent alot on this dog.
I've brought up getting rid of the dog in the past with my wife but she won't hear it and doesn't like to talk about it. The one time I made progress on the topic she got very sad about giving up the dog.
I don't want my wife to be sad, but I can't stand owning a dog.
