Tips for Etna Excursions?
Hi everyone!
We’re visiting Sicily soon and would love to do an Etna excursion, but there are so many options that it’s hard to choose.
We’re both in reasonably good shape and have a moderate fitness level. I have fibromyalgia (a chronic condition that causes widespread pain and fatigue), but I can still hike quite a bit. I just have no idea how physically demanding the different Etna excursions are, especially at the higher elevations, so I’d love some advice from people who’ve done them.
Ideally, we’re looking for a tour that includes the cable car and the 4x4 bus (if it’s worth it), so we can get a complete experience.
We’d love to see the craters up close and, if we’re lucky, any active volcanic activity or glowing lava (although I know that’s never guaranteed, not fully sure how realistic it even is).
Which tour would you recommend? Is it worth booking a guided excursion, or is taking the cable car and 4x4 independently enough? Are there any companies you’d particularly recommend or avoid? What is the normal price ranges for an excursion?
Thanks so much! Any tips or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated.
