I feel like I’ll never have a good night’s sleep again
Some background here - 36F, taking Strattera for inattentive ADHD, recently diagnosed with endometriosis and am taking norethindrone for that.
I stopped birth control about a year or two ago after I was told that they might be causing my ocular migraines, but then a sudden and severe resurgence of painful, heavy periods (that went disregarded by doctors for years) resulted in getting treatment for endo.
Ever since stopping estrogen birth control, I can’t stay asleep. At first I thought it was because of the Strattera, but…I think it might be endo related. The norethindrone has helped stop my bleeding (though I still get hormonal fluctuations every month and some breakthrough cramping) but my sleep schedule is ruined.
I’ve tried everything. Cutting caffeine after noon, not drinking alcohol in the evening, getting a sound machine, keeping my room cool, magnesium supplements, L-Theanine, hydroxyzine, melatonin, EVERYTHING. Nothing helps, and I keep waking up around 1-3 am and staying up until morning. I wake up either boiling in my clothes, or shivering cold to my core, while the temperature in the room never changes.
I know everyone says to not go on the phone but it’s the only thing that is keeping me distracted from the anxiety this is causing me. Does endo cause insomnia for anyone else, even with treatment? Could it be perimenopause? Please be kind if you comment. I really could use some support even if no advice can be given.
