I’m guessing tension on the line when spooling but thought I would seek advice from you fine folk.

I’m having a bit of trouble spooling up my Spartacus II spinning rod. The line (20lb braid) keeps slipping out of the bail and onto the arm of the handle. Am I supposed to remove the small blue grommet shown in the photo? This seems like a fairly simple thing but I’m on my fourth try with no luck. I’ve watched a bunch of YouTube how to’s but still can’t make it happen. Any suggestions or resources would be appreciated.

I figure I have less than $500 all in. The Spartacus II rods were on sale at Amazon. I’m super happy with the quality. Zebco is actually not bad and lets you switch righty/lefty. It’s a 5’6”. For guests really. The backpack was only $24 and holds a rod, company swag water bottle and pliers,snips and a tackle tray or two. Hat is from Huk because I’m a poser. But also because skin cancer is a thing.
