Just lost our chin

I checked on the chins this morning and one of them passed in the night. She wasn't sick, there were no signs anything was wrong, so I'm assuming heart or something internal.

I'm most concerned about the other one - don't they need to be paired? How can I help her manage this transition? Does she need to find another chin to bond with? After I tell my daughter after school (they are hers and she's going to be devastated), what do we need to keep in mind to support the other one?

I think they are about 7/8? We've had them for two years, but not sure of the age - they were mother and daughter.
