Noticed this huge mound today and got fascinated by what the ants are doing. Any info you can provide is helpful and also, I don’t know anything about ants except that they’ve pollinated a lot of my yard. But truly fascinated now!

Background:
Live in the NC Piedmont, clay/clay-loam soil. Saw this colony move from another part of the yard here about 3-4 weeks ago. Haven’t seen the mound pop up like this since they moved. We’ve been in a drought during that time but received about 2.5” rain since last Tuesday.
