I’ve been reading into the region of Fergana and how many cultures and empires have overlapped here. It was the birthplace of the founder of the Mughal Empire, and was at the crossroads of several different civilizations like the Greek, Chinese and Parthians. I’m very interested in places which lasted through many historical empires.

I read how the capital Uzhhorod of Zakarpattia Oblast is on the border of Hungary and Slovakia as is the most inland city in Europe. Plus it’s a historical region being divided and ruled by several states throughout the centuries.
