Half insoles for my first barefoot shoes
Hey everyone
I recently bought a pair of Groundies Zero as my first step into the barefoot world. I was looking for something good-looking, lightweight, and with plenty of room in the toe box, and they seemed like a great option.
That said, I’m not quite ready to jump straight into a full zero-drop setup yet. So I bought a pair of Birkenstock Footbed Blue half insoles, mainly to give my heel a bit of support and add some stability around the arch.
The issue is that while the insole sits nicely under the heel, it’s too wide in the front part. Once I put my body weight on it, it ends up deforming the shoe. You can clearly see from the outside that there’s an insert pressing against the upper, which is not ideal.
Has anyone dealt with something similar? Do you have any recommendations for half insoles that might work better in a barefoot-style shoe, especially something narrower in the front but still supportive around the heel and arch?
Thanks!
