On Sunday, my dog and I were in Little Rock, an hour from home. A German Shepherd puppy that couldn’t have been more than 3 months old ran across the street to us. My dog calmly sniffed like “hey, puppy, who are you? How are you doing?” The puppy ran over to us 2 more times, and my dog ignored it.

My dog is a bit of an “old lady” dog. 5.5 years old, and has a lower tolerance for older puppy chaos. This morning, we were visiting our Akita friend, who’s 13 months old, and the Akita pounced at my dog. She corrected the Akita quickly and fairly, and the Akita’s owner praised my dog for putting a boundary with his dog. The Akita gave some frustration growls like “Why did you tell me off?” And they did great together.
