Hi! (First Reddit post, so please be nice.) I'm 22 days out from a medial root repair on my right knee. Male, 50, somewhere in between "very active" and "vaguely athletic" under normal circumstances. Nine marathons under my belt in the past 15 years. All of the posts here have been incredibly helpful so please forgive me for creating yet another one, but I'm curious about others' perspectives compared to my own experience so far.

I'm still in my brace and I'm still locked at 0º. Still on crutches (which beyond suck). All in all, I've been blessedly pain-free pretty much the whole time. PT began thirteen days after surgery, which feels really late. But PT seems to be advancing quickly suddenly; ROM is creeping past 90º (though the movement feels anything but natural) and yesterday we started weight bearing. (I was FWB on my right knee!) I think at the next PT appointment we may unlock the brace and perhaps incorporate some assisted walking.

I'm most curious about other folks' experience with returning to full ROM and walking unassisted. I am trying to be realistic about timelines (I don't expect to even attempt to trot until at least four months out) but I also worry about babying myself while also paranoid about harming myself. To that point, the injury happened while doing the thing I love (felt the "pop" while running on a straightaway at a normal pace.) How have any of you overcome the fear of returning to full activity if that activity is what unexpectedly caused your injury?

Looking forward to your thoughts. And get well soon to everyone currently going through this!
