A knitting PDF viewer that saves your exact row and repeat count

An idea for a knitting/crochet tool: open an existing PDF pattern, place a movable marker on the current instruction, and keep a row counter plus a repeat counter alongside it. Closing the app would save the page, marker position, and both counters together.

For example, if a pattern says to repeat rows 1-8 six times, the view could show both the current row and which repeat you're on. Notes would stay attached to that part of the pattern.

The aim would be to avoid switching between a PDF viewer, a separate counter, and notes. It wouldn't generate patterns or require uploading them to a public library.

Do existing tools already handle this well? If you knit or crochet from PDFs, would this solve a real annoyance, or are paper annotations and a physical counter easier? I'm sharing a concept for discussion, not a released app.
