Saw my rheumatologist and was pretty underwhelmed - background info Here.
Summary of the appointment - no additional pain relief offered, he requested a support for my elbow, no help for my lower back/SI joints apart from telling me to lose weight, when I discussed my knee and showed him where the pain was he said 'that's not your knee' when it's on my kneecap...helpful. Referred for an MRI scan on that at least.
General theme (despite being aware of the fact my AS is uncontrolled due to being unable to take Humira and that I'm in a lot of pain and lack mobility) was that he had very little sympathy or care because he thinks I need to lose weight, which I do need to do but I don't think should affect the way I'm treated.
I'm now considering looking for a second opinion in terms of assessing disease progression & pain relief, paying privately - which I'd prefer not to do but probably not having much choice.
Any thoughts?
