
Vortex…sorry for the miss.
If you are among the many who bought the new VP9CC only to find the Vortex not functioning, here is what fixed mine.
No, the battery is not likely dead.
No, you didn’t lock it out.
No, it isn’t the case cap not seated.
It’s the leads for battery contact on the circuit board that need to be raised to contact the battery.
There are two sets that look like bright gold colored, short, arc shaped tines that are meant to touch the battery for the current to flow. One set is in the center and the other runs along the outside edge.
Use an xacto blade to slightly raise the short, curved strips so that they can contact the battery where they are supposed to do this.
Also, mine were covered in a thin film and some grime that had to be removed with a q-tip dampened (not wet) with alcohol.
Clean it first, then make the slight bend by lifting the strip edges with the blade.
Screw on the battery and it works.
