I’m trying to upgrade my MSI GP76 11UG (originally FHD 240Hz, Sharp LQ173M1JW05) to a 4K panel.
Here’s what I did:
Installed AUO B173ZAN06.8 (4K 120Hz)
Replaced the cable with K1N-3040303-H39 (UHD compatible)
Old panel still works perfectly with both cables
Problem:
On first boot, the new panel flashes backlight for a split second, then goes black
After reboot → completely black (no image, no backlight)
External monitor works fine
So:
1.Panel is not dead (backlight flash)
2.Cable should be correct
3.Laptop clearly powers the panel but fails link training?
My questions:
Does GP76 11UG (FHD 240Hz version) actually support 4K panels at all?
Could this be eDP lane / bandwidth limitation?
BIOS limitation or EDID issue?
- Has anyone successfully done this upgrade?
