1.I don't think the Far Cry 2 Protagonist Killed Himself In The Bribe The border Guards Ending lets think about this What if he was using the Jackal as a way to tie up loose ends really think about working briefly with him allows him to kill his buddies the APR and UFLL leaders and the Jackal will kill himself regardless and is dieing of Cancer this is the perfect opportunity for the Protagonist to tie up all his loose ends and finish his job in the UAC.
2.He has malaria which is treatable say he pocketed some of the Diamonds he got from bribing the guards and went and travelled to South Africa and got treatment for his Malaria its 2008 in the game so he can get treatment if he's quick enough to leave the country to somewhere where its treatable.
3.Lets be real did he really kill himself its not in his nature hes a ruthless mercenary who solely cares about money people point to the ending the ending audio where supposedly a gunshot goes off but what if its just a camera shot reuben's taking pictures and again it's unlikely even with malaria he would kill himself he can simply walk out of the UAC a free man and get treatment with his loose ends tied up.
Overall its up to interpretation but I really just don't think he would kill himself and really makes the whole game seem pointless and it doesn't make sense he would follow the jackals wishes when he's already dead by the cliff explosion will never know what happened to the main protagonist is he dead at the end did he flee get treatment layed low or still in the business unless Ubisoft reveals what happened to him we'll never know really hoping to hear what you guys think is canon.
