15L SlantPro lathe. First-generation turret. The turret has backlash. The interwebs say the common cause for this is the "tool locked" proximity sensor out of adjustment.

I tried for hours to adjust it, but it's buried behind the motor and getting a wrench on the thin nut with one hand while holding the sensor body with the other and holding a mirror with my third hand was just too much. It would either not index or have backlash.

As a workaround, I turn the 6 mm hex on the motor shaft clockwise until tight, that seems to tighten the backlash. Yes, this is a huge pain in the ass because I have to do it every time the turret indexes. But, it eliminates the backlash. Still, I keep getting chatter with some of the tools mounted to the turret, while the gang tools seem much better.

My question: am I fooling myself that turning the motor shaft by hand is adequately eliminating the turret backlash?

PCNC1100. Is this normal slop? We're having trouble with TTS toolholders getting pulled out of the collet during milling. We tighten the Belleville stack, then it won't release.

I'm struggling to understand what the joint at the back left is supposed to do and how do I tighten it.
