My 100lb American Bulldog, Mack, turned 12 the day after Valentine’s Day this year. He’s been his usual cuddle bug/goofball up until the last few weeks. He’s been drinking close to three times the amount of water that he used to take in, and I’ve noticed that his urine is nearly clear every time he goes. He’s also the type of dog that has never had an accident unless he’s sick, and in the last two weeks he’s had a few accidents in the house. He’s very passive and quiet about indicating that he needs to go out, so I’m trying to time potty breaks as though he’s a puppy again. He currently only eats dry food, and he’s always been a free feeder, so food and water are always available. Husband and I have discussed including wet food or even combining his dry food with the homemade food I used to make him to help with the excessive thirst.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated on food ideas, and what you’ve done for your pups as they’ve transitioned into these later senior years would be much appreciated. I’m currently in the process of getting him scheduled for a vet appt to have a blood panel done just to make sure everything is in good order for him. I guess my biggest fear is that he’s not comfortable and unhappy in these final years. Photos included for tax ❤️
