david ruttiman was a top 12 driver for 90% of the season.
mark martin got 5 wins, the youngest winner in nascar history happened, dale jr was insanely awful that year, Kasey kahne took rpm to the chase.
the year was nuts, every week something happened. Some random guy would get a top 10, and …. No one talks about it. It’s not remembered like 1992,2004,2011,2001,2002 or even some of the playoff years like 2014,2017, or 2020. All for 1 reason.
this was the middle of Johnsons dynasty. The exact middle of that point where every year Jimmie would turn it on and blaze the feild. If mark would have somehow won this title, this year would no doubt go down as a classic and one of the greatest. But since jimmie won half the Chase races and won it by over 100 points, its only remembered as “another Jimmie Johnson championship“
