I had my ACL surgery on 23rd December 2025 about four months ago, and it's presently looking like this. It was patella graft. Recovery is going well but I've noticed in my weekly ACL classes that a lot of other people who had surgery 6-9 months ago their scar is almost unnoticeable unless up close.
Theirs look like minor scratches, whereas mine looks like I've lost a fight with an angry cat 😂
I'm applying scar treatment strips daily and then having 3-6 hrs without them on, and when off I'm moisturising with E45 moisturiser.
Should I be doing anything different or in addition? Keen to hear what has worked for other people with their scar treatment.
I appreciate the scar will always be visible to an extent, I guess I just expected it to be a bit more subtle four months in that what it is.
