Surgery recovery - aerial arts - advice

Hi! Not sure if this is the right place as it’s a bit of an overlapping question.

I’m due to have excision surgery next month. Big ol’ endometriomas on both ovaries, stuck to my bowel, not sure if infiltrating. Plus whatever else they find. So will be having a bowel specialist involved as well.

I asked about getting back to exercise/hobbies and they said 6 weeks usually. However I do a lot of aerial arts as my hobbies- Lyra, pole and chains.

I tried to explain these to my surgeon/specialist, including the core strength involved and amount of impact/pressure on the abdomen from drops/wraps and they still said I’ll be back to it at 6 weeks.

It’s mainly the chains I’m worried about as I did what I’d think of as a low impact session over the weekend and I am bruised black and blue. Lyra I can avoid drops/have a low hoop for mounts etc but there’s not much to do with chains that don’t squeeze your insides. I’m cautiously optimistic if it’s only 6 weeks but I’m not sure my surgeon has much aerial experience! 😅

Does anyone here also do aerial stuff and had surgery involving the bowel? Would you be able to share any experiences of recovery?
