This summer's ending soon, but it would be endless in my life.
Cause we got married this summer, me and my beloved wife after nine years being in relationship.
The original plan was that we just travel to California for honeymoon, setting the final stop in Los Angeles. She got her master degree in UCLA, spending two years there and completely fell in love with that beautiful place, and she had always been wanting to go back there with me. Also we could get to the final show of Time Machines North American leg in May.
However, applying for a US tourist visa from China is insanely difficult now, and I've been rejected two times ever. So we changed the plan to hold a wedding ceremony in the end of May, one to be preciously memorized for our whole life.
Then we booked for a lawn in a vineyard nearby, started to design the decorations by myself, wrote the speech words and invited the closest friends and family members of ours. As music lovers, we seriously chose the song played during the ceremony, those could represent our feelings and emotions about our love story. For her, it's no doubt a lot of songs by her favorite Taylor Swift and several by Bad Bunny, Sabrina Carpenter and SZA.
As a The Midnight fan, I chose Prom Night, Brooklyn, Last Train from Monsters, Heartbeat and Loved by You from Heroes, and of course, Los Angeles. The three songs from Monsters reminds me the years with my wife, well back-then my girlfriend and fiancé. The second day we got together was literately the prom night of my collage, I was kinda clumsy and nervous to take her for a dance, but this time I can finally hold her hand, forever. And after she came back from Los Angeles, we started to live together, renting a room, struggling for life, and got through the pandemic, much like the days Tyler sang about his life with Anna in Brooklyn.
And I also included Brooklyn, Golden Gate from Tyler's own album The Floating Years. The two songs were quite different from The Midnight's version in the ways of arrangement and Tyler's singing, giving me the sense of sunny days, fresh meadow and gathering with the beloved ones, which I consider perfect match for the vibe of a wedding ceremony.
The ceremony ended up perfectly, the guests were all amazed by our arrangements and said that they’ve never listened to such beautiful songs from a band called The Midnight, as well as they’ve never been to a wedding of such kind in China ever. Though we didn’t got married under the Golden Gate, but it was surely a good time that Old friends see each other in a different different light.
So I would like to thank The Midnight, my most treasured band, for your beautiful songs, especially big thanks to Tyler for your amazing song and lyric writing, for creating such great emotional resonance with our love story and the beautiful memories every time we played these songs once again. Love you all!
