I’m a nursing student and have an out-of-state misdemeanor battery conviction from over 10 years ago. There was no jail time, it did not involve a patient, child, elderly person, or vulnerable adult, and I have had no legal issues since.

I recently had the case dismissed through the court, but I understand it may still show up on healthcare/fingerprint background checks as dismissed.

I’ve done well in school and completed adult clinical placements, but one clinical site recently declined me. From an HR/hiring perspective, how much would an old dismissed misdemeanor battery affect nursing employment after graduation?
