Divorce
Been married for 35 years and have been retired for about 10 years while my husband has worked making 400k a year.
We have always had some small shopping problems but I found out he has been withdrawing 500-1500 a week for escorts for at least two years (we haven’t looked further back yet but that’s what he admits to) and all of the stock and savings I thought we had would be there for our kids is mostly gone.
Back of the napkin math assumes he should have about 1 mil in stock compensation and only has 70k.
My question is this:
What is the better option, to go through a mediator or actually hire lawyers and forensic accountants? Most of the missing money will be cash which we spent plenty of on legitimate things so I’m not sure how to account for it.
Any help would be great because I have no idea what I am going to do when we divorce as I currently only collect a small amount of social security each month and have no other income to live off of.
