Kinda Glad This Never Came to Fruition
I just saw this Eurogamer article about how James Ohlen (BioWare lead designer) had plans back in 2015 to reboot the whole MMO and make it more in line with the original two KOTOR games. And as much as I love KOTOR, I'm kinda glad EA shut down this idea.
SWTOR certainly has its issues, but the overall gameplay loop and its story are what so many people love about the game. I'm not entirely sure what the reboot would have entailed, but getting rid of any of the main class stories or any of the planetary stories within the first 50 levels (vanilla game) would have been a mistake.
Edit: Here's a link to the original article for anyone curious https://www.eurogamer.net/bioware-swtor-old-republic-reboot-ohlen
