My job refuses to take possession of my clerance, should I leave?
I started a new job a little over a year ago (Dec 2024). When I stated this job I already had a clearance. However, after being here for over a year and me constantly pestering my manager about starting the paperwork to transfer it to my current employer I keep getting the run around. The usual excuse is "oh we will do it as soon as we have a classified program for you to be on" however i know they just submitted for another coworker to get theres 3 months ago who is working on the same projects... at this point I'm only a few months away from is being consider inactive. Is it worth it to jump ship over a employer reluctance or inability to take possession of a clearance.
My reason for this is I plan on changing jobs eventually anyway.. most cleared jobs want you to have a active security clearance. If I were to be considered inactive it technically "downgrades" my employability and job options and reduces my overall flexibility.
