Nakayama Kiita Kodai [Handsawn]

Im sure many have seen this one before, but might as well rip the bandage off. This is probably my favorite stone that I do not use. Really big 24 size handsawn Naka Kiita. Flawless example. Ive so many Naka Kiita that theres simply no reason to whittle this chunk of history away. Such a good feel under a wide bevel. This was hewn earlier than the 1920's, and was obviously prized by both the miner and the previous owners.

I decided not to seal the stone as well. Seeing pictures of enthusiasts at Tsushihashi's over the years, i often see some really old Naka kiita getting tested. Most of them are unsealed and the way the mud runs down the side is unique and cool and totally lost after its sealed 😆 i realize as I type that out I have a problem, but hey, we all do.
