Old Hard Drive has been slow, a few bad sectors.

Anything transfered from the old drive to any dongle or sd card gets corrupted on the storage device.

Health is at 63%

Can this still be used? or do I just get this refurbished, and resell?

So I am doing this because everytime I do a file transfer from pc to usb/memory card.

The Disc is going 100% and the file in the usb gets corrupted 50% of the time.

Even if the file transfer is the only thing going-on.

--------

So, here is my setup

O.S.: Windows 8

Source: Seagate Barracuda 1TB

Target: Seagate Barracuda 2TB

---------

So the things I need to know:

  • What happens when the process is interrupted?(because the old drive is in a very bad way and can do things when It's at 100% for too long)(can I continue the process where I left off)
  • How long can this take?(I probably need to set-up a fan to keep the system running optimally, expecially at el Niño season right now in South East Asia)
  • Do I close everything and just let this be the only program run?

I am only doing this because it's the only PC that I have a budget for. And part that I can afford at this time.

I understand if I missed a few things and this post is taken down.
