Hi guys,

Hope you don't mind me sharing some pictures of the fretless banjos I've been building over the last year.

I originally built a fretless banjo for myself, my dad played the banjo and was a big bluegrass fan. After he passed away, I was listening to a lot of fretless banjo/oldtime tunes, I built the first fretless banjo for myself as a way to reconnect with that part of him.

I wasn't expecting to make more, so it was really lovely when people reached out asking me to make one for them.

They’re made from recycled Australian hardwood, they have a simple construction where the neck runs through the pot and the string tension holds it all together.

305mm diam timber pot with hide drum skin

Friction tuners and nylgut strings

Each one is named after a different part of dads farm.

Still learning all the time, but really enjoying the sound and feel of fretless and seeing others connect with it.

Happy to answer any questions if anyone’s curious.

You can find more pictures, videos and info of these banjos on my Instagram @m_e_l_l_0_

Thanks! 💚🪕
