This is my first playthrough and i though i imagined it the first time, but re-loaded to check again, after the call with Toriel near the beginning of the game, i walk left and on the left side of the screen a character disappears?
I tried finding reference to this without spoilers but couldn't and wondered about it!

Edit: thanks for the clarification all! about 3 hours in and loving it :) Also I swear I read all the frogs before I re-loaded D:
