A comic lost in time

So, back in 2004, when Killzone was first taking off. I believe in the back on the game manual there was an advert for a Killzone comic being made into production that would expand on the events before Killzone 1 if im not mistaken. I to this day, forgot what ever happened to that comic, I could never find it in store. Later on, recently I found out that the comic had been cancelled because the company went out of business. I was very sad to here that cause I was looking forwards to the comic cause I loved the franchise and the art looked cool.

Recently I found out that there was a comic that had a small little tease of what could have been, I looked to see if they had this comic on Ebay. Sure enough they did. It was sold by a comic shop, they had a few copies left, I ended up buying 2 out of the 3 that they had because of the comic grade and condition.

This comic in question was Comic Digest 2004 #2 November edition.

I am here to share with you and fellow Killzone fans the pages that were in this comic of the Killzone story we could have gotten... Im pretty sure there are more higher res versions of these pictures out there, but I thought id share.

I really wish this series would be brought back...it still has so much potential...

Bit of a conundrum now

So...to add a bit more context to this "Conundrum" lets start from the beginning.

A few weeks back, I was wanting to play the Dragon Quest Monsters game on 3ds that were only released in Japan. The only issue is, I dont know Japanese.

I do know that there is a fan translation of Terry's Wonderland out there I just didnt know how to do it.

Another user on Reddit said that modding the console isnt as hard as it used to be and you could still use the official cartridge.

So...I set out with a task to mod a console just to play the game in english. Only a few issues insued.

  1. First issue is, the 3ds's that I have were ones that I didnt want to risk bricking if I messed up the mod

  2. The cost of a 3ds in todays market is a tad bit expensive.

So I scoured Ebay for a possibly cheap or repairable 2ds xl with minimul things that needed fixing. ( why do this route it seems a bit more costly in the long run instead of just buying one without problems)

Because I didnt want to drop nearly 250-300 on a system that I could potentially make unusable.

So eventually I did come across a system on ebay that was listed as having a hinge problem. Okay, not a bad repair, still a pain, but not as much of a headache as others.

Bid on that console, ended up winning that console, console gets shipped out, console arrives, console gets tested and weirdly...console didnt come with any flaws at all. ( we will be getting to this)

So, took a few days before I even wanted to get into the mod or even start the mod. I did test and see that the console was a US region, it was. I also tested to make sure the console played games , it did.

For what ever weird reason in my brain, I decided to just to see if the Japanese cart would work in the 3ds ( here is the kicker) for some weird reason, it read the japanese cart with no issues.

I could of sworn the 3DS systems were region locked. Im looking on google and sure enough they are. So...I do another google search "how to check to see if your 3ds is modded" I follow the very simple instructions.. just to find out, the system was already modded.

So, if you've read this far, I applaud you, I am going to get to my conundrum part..

Seeing as how I went through all this trouble just to want to do it on my own, what exactly am I even supposed to do now in order to keep it in working order as well as add on the english patch that I originally wanted to do in the first place...

Mind you the system is modded with Luna and Godmode9 or what ever those even mean..Also, no it did not come with a MicroSD card already inside it.

We are getting a Dragons Quest Monsters 4. But why not these games still??

Im pretty sure I and many others already know the answers as to why these games will sadly never get released outside of Japan.

It honestly breaks my heart though, I would of loved to experience these games again with their updated textures and dialogue. I grew up playing DQM2 on Gameboy Color many years ago. When I found out these even existed, I absolutely lost my mind and was patiently waiting for a localization version. Sadly that day never happened and I gave up waiting for them.

Later on, I did find out why these never made it out of japan, it was just too niche of a game and cost way to much to translate, apparently it had enough text in the game to make people go crazy and just wasnt worth the hassel..

I know you can play Terry's Wonderland in English with mods, but, its just not the same feeling... If they were to ever bring these games to Switch or Switch 2 id absolutely buy them in a heart beat..

Yet sadly...one can still dream...
