Requesting Marcus Caldeira Flare
I am finally ready to move on from my Al Smir meme flare in order to support a player that is actually ready for the big stage. Kindly requesting the moderators revisit the current flare catalogue, and specifically add Caldeira to the collection. Thank you.
Leagues Cup Monitor Round 2 Update
Updates for round 2 [edits for quarterfinal qualification correction]!
In the East, Cincinnati and Columbus appear to have the easiest path to knockout stage, sitting on 6 pts against either a tier 2 or tier 3 opponent with 0 pts through two matches. Columbus and Charlotte both also have 6 pts, but have tougher round 3 matches against Pachuca (tier 1, 3 pts) & Cruz Azul (tier 1, 6 pts).
In the West, Austin & Dallas are sitting on 6 points, but have a difficult path to 9 points with match 3 pairings AT Toluca (tier 1, 3 pts) & Club America (tier 1, 6 pts). LAFC has a relatively easy path to 8 with a Querataro (0 pts) and RSL can get to 7 with a matchup against Juarez (tier 2, 6 pts) who are on a bit of a heater. Several other teams can get to 6, but that doesn't look good enough to advance.
Things are less clear cut for Liga MX. Cruz Azul and Leon are both sitting on 6 pts, but have unfavorable matchups against Miami (tier 1) and Chicago (6 pts). If either of them loses their match, Monterrey (+0) could tie on points with a big win over Nashville and move ahead on goal differential (Cruz Azul +3, Leon +2).
The remaining 6 Mexican teams in the East are sitting on 0 points through two matches.
Club America sits on 6 pts and play Austin who are also battling to advance but Juarez and RSL may be the game to watch. If any of those four teams falter, Tigres could get it done after two crazy penalty shootout victories on the road to start the competition (I was at their MN game and it felt like a Tigres crowd). A win against Vancouver in Mexico would put them at 7. Unlikely that none of those five get results, but Toluca (Dallas) or Atlante (Minnesota) could also get to 6 in a matchup. This is a promising matchup for Atlante who haven't earned a CONCACAF Champions berth since 2020.
Leagues Cup Matchup Analysis
I couldn't find any resources around that provided context for Leagues Cup Group Stage results based on team tier categories... so I made one! This shows how each team has done through match 1 and shows who they have yet to play to earn their (likely) 7 points to advance. All scores are listed as \[LMX\] - \[MLS\], with an asterisk on the front if Mexico won a shootout, and at the end if MLS did.

Crowd-Source Prospecting
With the front office remaining conspicuously quiet again to start the transfer window, I think it is time once again to start floating ideas to the scouting department. Surely someone in the org is browsing this subreddit.
I'm starting to think Jaoquin would be better playing in the defensive midfield area where he can be more effective creating turnovers through pressure and springing attacks from deeper inside midfield. That creates an opening for a 10 above him to receive the ball and distribute to our goal scorers. If we aren't going to shift Thomas inside (He and Joaquin both seem to naturally drift toward the outside, then I think that's the most valuable improvement to our starting lineup (aside from a $10M #9). The good news is 10s are actually pretty affordable globally, since European soccer has drifted away from the 4-2-3-1 formation. Here are a few I think might be worth a look:
Léider Berdugo -Cucuta - ~$470k
Jorge Serrano - FC Motagua - ~$300k
Matko Miljecvic - Racing Club - $3.6M (former MLS, US native)
Matthäus Taferner - Free Agent (formerly WSG Tirol) ~$500k transfer value
Younes Taha - FC Twente - $2.7M
Tom Fawdry Update
Most people here probably don't care, but I haven't been able to find an announcement for where Tom Fawdry's new coaching job is. It's been two weeks since MNUFC announced his departure. Anyone else find that strange that he hasn't turned up somewhere else yet?
