During the ice storm last month in northern Michigan, one of the remaining red pines in my yard, planted by the CCC lost a peak. It came crashing down and by the grace of God missed my cottage. Lots to clean up.

Inspecting the tree, the tree has some damage where the peak split. It’s about 30’ up and I’m concerned that the tree is no longer structurally viable. If we have another ice storm, snow or heavy winds, I’m not sure if it would survive. And if it comes down, where is it going to land.

Is there any hope for the tree or should I have it removed?
