I am working on writing a Pride and Prejudice variation and the heir to Netherfield is in the Navy, I was thinking of making him a Captian in 1811 but he became the heir in 1803 having joined in 1800. I don't know much about ranking or commissions so any information would help really. Thank you in advance.
