Thoughts on my Juniper Nana
This is the bonsai that I ended up with at the end of a bonsai class I took this April. It is my first bonsai and it's been so much fun. This one has two thick branches that go in different directions on top of a gnarly bend supporting them. The branching was much more circular and I went in for a refinement prune last week. Now I think it fits the shape of the pot more. Hard to see it in the photos but in person there is already a nice shape. When next spring rolls around I will make some decisions on what branches are actually hurting the shape. I've debated removing the large upper cascading branch entirely. I really love the lower left pad at the back and I definitely want to show off that lower curved branch. The big shoot at the top is for future jin and I'm hoping that vertical branch fills into a dome shape.
