Today's teacher appreciation gift from admin couldnt have been a more accurate metaphor for the state of teaching in 2026 if they had tried.

They made an announcement about a gift in our mailboxes and when I first saw the envelopes tied with ribbon, I thought maybe, JUST MAYBE we had cards from students, which would be sweet.

Nope. It was a small stack of blank thank-you note stationary with the school header on it tied with a ribbon.

So our gift for teacher appreciation week is that we can write a thank you note to someone else.

Sometimes I swear, if I hadn't bought a house super close to my work and they weren't giving us decent adjustments to our pay scale I would be out of here.
