Feeling overwhelmed by amount of individual pieces to paint

I'm painting something I hope my dm can use at some point for a good villain, and I am really happy with a lot of my color choices so far. However, there's so many individual pieces on this mini, that I feel overwhelmed by trying to figure out how I tie it together.

Namely, the hair, helmet, staff, shoulder pauldrons and the mirror, are all pieces that are yet to be painted, and I have no clue how I bring it together. I'm so worried I'll use the wrong colors and either make it messy or too bland, that I'm getting major decision anxiety.

Any suggestions would be warmly welcome!

Some stupid questions about how I can make this pop off

This house is gonna be the base for so many things for my d&d group, and the others have no idea I'm making this, so I really want it to pop to impress them, but I'm unsure how to proceed here.

- what colors do I use for the window grids if I intend on getting tiny led lights put on the inside?

- How do I make the wood more interesting without making it look messy and dirty?

- How can I make the chimney stand out more?

- The grey between the stone wall and the roof on the chimney side, should I do it in the same cream color as the on the short sides?

- Overall what can I do to make this pop off more?

Maybe I have been working on this for too long and just need a break but I feel totally decision paralysis for proceeding with this

Any help/suggestions would be hugely appreciated! Thanks in advance to anyone who chimes in!

Roof for the Home/Tavern for my d&d group is starting to shape up!

Typically I've been more of a DIY kind of builder but had a chance to test 3d printer at work and my attempts at cardboard buildings have all turned to shit. Super excited how this is starting to turn out though!

Do I push this further/finish off unfinished areas, or call this done and take the W in progress?

This comfortably my best ever paint job, and it shows real progress on so many things. However, part of me feels I might be able to push this even further. I could definitely try to add more contrast, highlights and improve transitions, but that would also risk messing up and undo some of the leaps in progress I've done since previous paint jobs?

Additionally, perhaps a silly question, should I bother painting the unfinished areas like the back to bring them to the quality of the front, or simply tell people not to look there? I am a little worry of a "mini" burnout as my enthusiasm for working on this miniature is waning 😅

Final silly question, would adding things to the base to make it pop and come alive more be good, or would it simply be distracting from the mini, and therefore I should keep it plain?

Your comments really do help, thank you!

The mini isn't even done and the photos don't do justice to just how much better the wolf looks after following your feedback and suggestions.

Massive appreciation to all of you who spend time and effort to give constructive feedback on posts asking for help! ❤️

(WIP) Fey-Touched Wolf. What colors make sense for the eyes and for the highlights?

I get decision anxiety in regarding what direction to take this mini now. I want the purple to represent the fey corruption spreading, and the other different colors are meant to give off this chaotic yet whimsical fey vibe. But since it's so many colors, it feels like a very tight rope to walk to balance between hitting all the right notes, and just a chaotic mess of colors.

Any suggestions for what colors to use where, and specially for the eyes and the highlights, would be truly appreciated!

Mini is from Ironshield Army in case anyone is curious!

Vaelir, my PCs brother. Messiest mini I've painted in awhile, and the one I learned the most from painting!

Some of the lessons I took from this paint job:

- Know when to stop. At a certain point, further touches will not improve the mini

- Stop comparing your paint jobs to ones done by people with much more time and experience painting. Accept the limit of your skills as they are now

- Planning ahead what colors to put where would've been good

- Don't drop minis on the floor, that sword is frigging hard to glue back!

- Trying out new techniques and approaches is worth it, even if the end result is worse than if you would've stuck to what you know

- Even a messed up paint job can look good from a distance!

What colors should I do for the shield and sword?

For context ill show pics of the mini without the shield and then with it just placed on top. I was thinking dark blood red with some magical effect on the sword, and green/brown tree-y vibe on the shield, but after doing a base coat and looking it together, the color scheme feels off. Thoughts on what potential other colors I should go instead for the shield and sword?

Having green be prominent is somewhat important for the character's family lore reasons, but maybe the cloak is enough?

Any and all suggestions are most appreciated!

Halfling Veteran

This was my first time using non-synthetic brushes and the difference in detail and control feels like night and day

Does this look like a heated cauldron? If not, what's lacking/wrong?

(The paint on the character feet is a mistake and will be fixed when I paint the character)

I've been trying to hand paint a leaf emblem representing my dnd characters family crest, but struggle to make it look decent. Does anyone have a good tip for how I can get a good looking leaf on there instead? I would print a tiny leaf and cut out, and then draw but cutting out a tiny leaf of that size comes with similar challenges with precision as with hand painted i feel. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
