Hey guys, I am looking to upgrade from my 2012 model D18 that has forward shifted X bracing to get a brand new forever Martin, I am looking at the D28 Authentic which was my first thought, but I am also looking at the D42, D45 or the HD28 and my fiance is taking my D18 as she has fallen in love with it and wants to keep it in our family as it is the first and only acoustic guitar I have ever owned and I bought it brand so am am the only owner the D18 has had.
I am definitely all about the sound and feel, so I don't mind if it is herringbone or Abalone binding, Which would you guys recommend? Is the D28 Authentic that much better sound wise and build wise compared to the others? Is the D45 better sounding than the D42 and is it worth the price hike? and how does the HD28 stack up to the others as it is the least expensive one?
I have looked into it and I know the authentic has a thick neck which I'm fine with and it has the non adjustable T bar truss rod "apparently some don't have a truss rod at all"?
but yeah, I just wanted to get some opinions on it to see if I should look at going the D28 Authentic, maybe the D42 or is the D45 the way to go or maybe the HD28?
I do know that I like the scalloped forward shifted X bracing which is why I am looking at these models as I like the big full sound with a glassy/chime treble with overtones and a slightly scooped mid range.
