SAM Broadcaster Pro and GPIO's
I'm helping a small station in my market get a satellite show setup, and they use SAM Broadcaster PRO. Now, I mainly know Wide Orbit and Zetta, and can get around in those systems just fine. SAM is brand new to me, and I'm searching for a way to integrate closures to automate the show these guys are receiving.
They're receiving the show audio and closures on a Barix Exstreamer 500 in STL mode. Audio goes into an old Broadcast Tools 8x2 Plus switcher.
The issue I'm running into is trying to get SAM to recognize and act on the show closures, and I hope I'm missing something in their manual and documentation, because I don't see a way to get SAM to even listen/recognize incoming relay cues. I see I can do some PAL scripting to send commands to the 8x2 switcher to change inputs, or hookup the Barix directly to the switcher and manage it that way, but that's all I've got, and it still doesn't solve the issue of firing off the next spot block when the Break closure is received.
Anyone around have experience with SAM and able to say if this is even doable without getting a bit of ancillary gear?
