I’ve been in "survival mode" since I was 16. Built and lost multiple businesses, but now I’m now unhirable . How do I escape this loop?
I’ve been a forced entrepreneur since I was 16 to support my family. Over the years, I’ve built a digital agency, climbed into construction management, and built a successful contract cleaning company (which I'm currently selling due to a forced health relocation).
Because I was always a sole operator, I had to master the entire stack of business ops:
Xero, Sage, legal compliance, CRM, HR. Building out SOPs and organizational workflows from scratch. Web design, and most recently, heavy implementation of n8n and AI automation to keep my businesses running on autopilot.
My health means physical businesses are off the table, and I don't have the venture capital to launch a massive software play.
The frustrating part? I’m getting ghosted by traditional employers. Because I’ve never had a "boss" and lack a degree, recruiters don't know what box to put me in. I have elite-level operational survival skills, but zero corporate pedigree.
I want to pivot fully into remote operations, workflow optimization, or AI/n8n automation consulting for other small businesses.
If you were in my shoes, with a ton of practical execution experience but no traditional resume, how would you position yourself to get clients or a remote gig?
