So I just watched Close Encounters for the first time and was shocked to find out that Melinda Dillon got nominated for an Oscar for this performance.

I thought her performance was one of the worst Ive ever seen if Im honest. Her line delivery was just baffling to me, and I never felt any urgency, fear, awe... anything from her.

So my question is first of all am I totally in the minority here and what are some of the worst performances you guys think that received a nomination?
