Company modifies offer letter 2 weeks before start date and lowers RSU compensation. Should I try to renegotiate?
I'm graduating today from college and will be returning back to a company that I interned last year for and received a return offer. I signed my offer back in September to receive x amount of RSUs (not a specific dollar amount). Since then the stock of the company has skyrocketed and they reached out stating they are changing my RSU package to a fixed $ amount that is much lower than what I would have gotten under my old offer. My manger has also since left the company so a new manager also is behind this possibly. Verbally I was told by my old manager when I received the offer that they expected the price to go up by the time I joined but I don't think they expected it to be by this much.
I have already done all my onboarding and signed my offer letter months ago. Legally I don’t think I have much ground (I also posted to r/legaladvice) Should I try to renegotiate the price higher or not risk losing this job?
They will be sending out a new offer letter by the end of the week.
Sorry if my post isn't super neat, just a bit nervous and getting ready for graduation.
