Is it possible to do a three block extender for staircases (or flying machine door for staircase)

Me and my friend are trying to figure out how to make a certain part of our base harder to find by doing something like the picture. I cannot figure out how to do it, and would appreciate the help. Also, the second picture is what we'd like it to be at rest/not activated (sorry for the crude work). When the staircase looks like the second picture, it would lead up to another room.
