I'm about to look for another NAS

I am so f'ing irritated with this. I cannot seem to figure out what to do to maintain access to my DS220. It shows up in the Synology Assistant, but when I try to access it, it says its not found.

I did a full hard (10 second reset button hold) and now it says Configuration Lost. I double click on the name and get:

This site can’t be reached

http://172.20.234.2:5000/?timestamp=1782703988 is unreachable.

ERR_ADDRESS_UNREACHABLE

At this point, my last 2 questions to you wonderful people on here are:

  1. Is there anything I can do, that does NOT require an advance degree in network stuff, to figure out how to access this?

  2. Is there a less complicated, NOT SYNOLOGY, idiot proof NAS System you would reccomend?

Confused, possible stupid question

Have a 220 NAS, 2 bays. Currently only have 1 drive installed and it is setup as SHR, no data protection.

Just bought a 2nd drive and want to install it to add more storage space.

Reading this on the Synology site:

  1. For a single-drive SHR storage pool, adding just 1 more drive only provides data redundancy. It does not increase the storage capacity. To expand the capacity, you must add at least 2 additional drives, bringing the total drive count to 3.

Am I understanding that adding the 2nd drive (another 4TB Drive) will NOT increase the storage size?
