Superhero Flicks Heavily Inspired by Classic Films
Each of these superhero films in the bottom row I find to be heavily influenced by the adjacent film in the first row. It's as if the creators said "Let's do blank movie, but put this superhero in it", at least as a starting point. They tried to capture the style, the poster design, and even the title in some cases (e.g. Shane/Logan). Obviously there are several influences on all of the superhero films, but the top row clearly stand out as being the major influence.
I was surprised at how many there were and that they all relatively high quality. It's an interesting exercise and begs the question - do superhero films benefit by heavily basing their style on earlier films? None of these feel like "generic" superhero films, but made with a real vision even if it started as a superhero version of these earlier works.
What did I miss? Avengers as Seven Samurai? X-Men First Class as James Bond?
