Lockdown drill in Infant classroom - tips?
I am a lead educator in the infant classroom in my centre. Ages are 0-19 months. Currently we have 10-12 babies daily, youngest 10 months and oldest 15 months, with 3 teachers (1:4 ratio). We were made aware this week that before the end of the month we will be having our first lockdown drill of the year. The only policies I am required to follow are taking attendance, turning off lights and closing curtains, and keeping the children quiet and away from visible areas. Otherwise we have just been told to figure out how we will best navigate the situation. I have no idea how we are going to handle this with 10-12 infants/baby toddlers who do not understand the concept of stay still and be quiet. I want to be as prepared as possible to minimize the stress on the kids and the educators. Any tips, tricks, or advice is very appreciated! 😅
