Been testing out OVO Energy over April and thought I’d share some real numbers, since a lot of people here ask about plans.

I’m on their Free 3 plan (free electricity from 11am–2pm daily), and here’s how it played out:

* Used ~104.6 kWh during the free window, which saved about $23
* Total April bill came to $37
* Referral credits knocked off $40, so effectively covered the bill
* Current account balance sitting at about $97 credit (withdrawable)

At this point, my projected bills for the next couple of months are basically ~$5/month out of pocket, just because the credit is covering most of it.

Who this actually works for:
If you:
* WFH regularly
* Can time-shift usage (dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, even heating/cooling)
* Don’t mind structuring usage around that 11–2 window

then the Free 3 plan is genuinely decent.

If not, their standard One Plan actually has lower base rates, so it may work out cheaper overall.

Important caveat:
The Free 3 plan has higher usage rates outside the free window, so if you don’t actively shift usage, you can end up worse off. It’s not a “free lunch” plan.

Referral
They’re currently offering $180 credit via referral (~$15/month).
If you’re already considering switching, happy to share my link.⬇️

NOTICE
I ran the numbers vs a flat rate plan and the break-even point is roughly ~3–4 kWh/day shifted into the free window.
