Started finasteride in 09/2023. The top photo is from about a year before I started finasteride + minoxidil. The bottom photo is now at age 37.

Current routine:
Finasteride
Topical minoxidil
Oral minoxidil 2.5mg
Ketoconazole + Dercos shampoo
Theradome since 10/25
Interestingly, shedding only really slowed down after adding the helmet, but lately I feel like I’m seeing some thinning again under harsh lighting.
Now I’m debating whether to just stay consistent and stop chasing every fluctuation…
Or if it’s worth strengthening the treatment with low-dose dutasteride alongside finasteride.
For people who’ve been stable long term — how do you tell the difference between normal fluctuation/paranoia and actual progression?

wanted to share my journey and see if anyone else has had a similar experience with LLLT (Laser Cap).
My Background & Timeline:
• Started Treatment: September 2023.
• Baseline: Significant thinning, especially at the crown.
• The Routine: * Finasteride (1mg daily).
• Topical Minoxidil (twice a day).
• Ketoconazole shampoo (Nizoral).
• The Struggle: Throughout the first two years, despite regaining a lot of hair and seeing regrowth, my shedding was insane. I was losing 200+ hairs a day in the shower and while combing. It was constant.
The Game Changer:
In October 2025, I decided to add an LLLT Laser Cap to my routine.
The Results:
Almost immediately after starting the cap, my scalp felt "calmer." Within a short time, my massive shedding finally stabilized. I went from losing 200 hairs a day to around 80 (normal range).
I feel like the meds did the heavy lifting for the regrowth, but the laser cap was the missing piece that actually "anchored" the hair and stopped the constant shedding cycle. My scalp health feels 100% better.
Current State (May 2026):
Attaching my photos below. The difference in density is huge, and I finally have peace of mind.
Questions for the community:
1. Has anyone else experienced a significant reduction in shedding specifically after adding LLLT to a Fin/Min stack?
2. Did you feel like the laser cap helped with scalp inflammation/sensitivity?
Would love to hear your thoughts!
