when you compare the spg and infantry tank mio for lets say japan, you can see that the spg mio (assault guns) is straight up worse for medium self propelled artillery since it has less aviable bonuses and less important stats like soft attack and breakthrough.

why would you even use this?

i guess you could level it up quicker isnce you can research artillery using this mio

which are better in your opinion?

i think rangers might be better since there are forests everywhere and they get urban bonuses, but on the other hand i think mountaineers have more soft attack per combat width
